MMDA suspends number coding from Oct. 31-Nov. 5

MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will suspend the implementation of the number coding scheme in Metro Manila in line with the exodus of motorists to the provinces for the All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day break, from Oct. 31 to Nov. 5.

In text message to the media, MMDA spokesperson Celine Pialago, however, said the suspension of the number coding scheme will not apply in the cities of Makati and Las Piñas.

Meanwhile, the MMDA will be deploying more than 3,300 personnel consisting of traffic enforcers and members of the Sidewalk Clearing Operations Group to ensure orderly observance of the All Saints’ and All Souls’ days.

They will be deployed at the Manila North Cemetery, Manila South Cemetery, Bagbag Public Cemetery in Quezon City, Loyola Memorial Park and San Juan Public Cemetery. They will supervise cleaning the vicinities of these cemeteries and clearing roads of illegally parked vehicles and other obstructions.

The MMDA oversees the traffic rerouting in these cemeteries.

The agency is also implementing its “no absent, no dayoff” policy for its traffic enforcers from October 27 to November 3. (Aerol John Pateña/PNA)
