Moderna applies for EUA in PH

American company Moderna has filed an emergency use authorization (EUA) application for its Covid-19 vaccine in the Philippines, according to vaccine czar and National Task Force against Covid-19 (NTF) Implementer Carlito Galvez Jr.

In his speech at the Sulong Pilipinas Forum Monday (April 26), Galvez announced the application and said if the arrival of new supplies of vaccines continues to pour into the country, it is possible to vaccinate economic frontliners against Covid-19 by June, and that the vaccination program may be opened to the public by August.

“The Philippine Vaccination Roadmap is guided by PRRD’s [President Rodrigo Roa Duterte] declaration to provide the Filipino people with safe, effective, and free vaccines for all — particularly for poor and vulnerable communities,” Galvez said.

In a separate statement, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles also guaranteed that the national government is taking strides not only against Covid-19, but also in the development of the country.

“We really have much to be thankful for. And we look forward to bringing more sustainable development to our nation. Trust that the needs, interests, and views of the people are [the] foremost consideration in every policy decision of the President and the cabinet.”
