Mono Vampire edges Nanhai in ABL semis opener

MANILA — Mono Vampire gave Nanhai its first loss in the ABL season at home and it came in a very opportune time.

The Vampires stunned the Kung Fu, 103-94, at the start of the league semifinals at the Nanhai Gymnasium in China on Wednesday night.

Mono waxed hot in the second quarter, dropping 37 points compared to only 18 by Nanhai to turn the tides for good.

Mike Singletary led Mono Vampire, which entered the playoffs as the fourth seed but can knock out the top-seeded Nanhai in Bangkok next week, with 29 points, six rebounds, five assists, and one steal.

Jason Brickman added 25 points and 15 assists with four rebounds and three steals, while Paul Zamar chipped in 20 points, four rebounds, three assists, two steals, and one block.

Mikh McKinney’s 32-point outburst came up short as Nanhai needs to sweep the next two games to preserve its season. (Ivan Stewart Saldajeno/PNA)
