MANILA — Expect rains in Luzon due to the southwest monsoon on Friday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has warned.
In its 4-p.m. weather bulletin on Thursday, PAGASA said the Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, Bataan, Zambales, Batanes, and the Babuyan group of islands would experience monsoon rains within the next 24 hours.
The state weather bureau warned of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains.
Metro Manila and the other parts of Luzon will also have occasional rains caused by the southwest monsoon.
PAGASA similarly cautioned of possible flooding and landslides due to light to moderate with occasional heavy rains in these areas.
Visayas and Mindanao are also forecast to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers caused by local thunderstorms.

PAGASA weather specialist Gener Quitlong said in a weather forecast that Tropical Storm “Inday” (international codename: Ampil) is pulling the southwest monsoon towards the western side of the country.
Quitlong added there are no eyed clouds near the tropical storm due to a high-pressure area located above “Inday”.
PAGASA still forecasts the tropical storm will leave the Philippine area of responsibility on July 21, Saturday.
“Inday”, which is moving northeast at 25 kilometers per hour, was last spotted 1,025 km east of Basco, Batanes. It is packing maximum sustained winds of 75 km per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 90 km per hour.
Quitlong said the storm is expected to make its landfall in southern China on July 22, Sunday.
The weather specialist further said PAGASA issued a gale warning over Isabela, Aurora, Zambales, and Bataan. These areas will have rough to very rough coastal waters.
Quitlong said fisherfolks and those with small boasts should avoid heading out to sea in these areas due to the rough waters.
Other seaboards in Luzon will be moderate to rough.
Visayas and Mindanao, meanwhile, will experience moderate coastal waters.
PAGASA sees a temperature range of 16-35 degree Celsius across the country until Monday.
