More areas under GCQ this February

Malacañang announced on Friday the community quarantine classifications for the month of February.

The National Capital Region (NCR) will remain under general community quarantine (GCQ).

Other areas covered by GCQ are the entire Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR), Batangas, Tacloban City, Davao City, Davao del Norte, Lanao del Sur, and Iligan City.

The rest of the country will remain under modified general community quarantine (MGCQ).

Meanwhile, it was confirmed that Contact Tracing Czar Benjamin Magalong has tendered his resignation as Lead Implementer for Contact Tracing in the National Task Force for COVID-19.

Magalong said he was involved “in a recent incident where several lapses in protocol were committed.”

He assured that he is committed in holding himself accountable and will “do what is necessary to rectify this misstep.”

“Mayor Magalong’s resignation, however, has not been accepted. He continues to enjoy the trust and confidence of the leadership of the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque stated. – Report from Mela Lesmoras
