MANILA – The southwest monsoon or “habagat” will continue to bring rains over Metro Manila, the Ilocos and Cordillera regions, Central Luzon and Calabarzon on Saturday.

In its 4 a.m. weather bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said Batanes and the Babuyan Group of Islands are also set to experience monsoon rains.

The rest of Luzon, meanwhile, will have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms, while the Visayas and Mindanao are expected to have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms.

Typhoon Lekima (formerly “Hanna”) was last located at 875 km. north of extreme northern Luzon and has made landfall on China’s east coast at 1 a.m. local time.

Winds at extreme northern Luzon will remain strong going southwest, while coastal waters are expected to be rough with waves of up to 4 meters.

The rest of the country, meanwhile, will experience moderate to strong winds blowing southwest, which will bring moderate to rough sea conditions with waves of up to 3.4 meters. (With reports from Catherine J. Teves/PNA)
