The Civil Service Commission (CSC) will administer the Career Service Examination-Pen and Paper Test (CSE-PPT) to 242,901 examinees on August 6, 2017.
A total of 208,757 examinees (85.9%) will take the Professional level exam, while 34,144 examinees (14.1%) will take the Sub-professional level exam.
Examinees are advised to check their school assignment through the Online Notice of School Assignment (ONSA) from the CSC website. Those who are unable to access the ONSA, they may call the CSC Regional or Field Office where they filed their application.
In preparation for the upcoming exam, the CSC advised examinees to visit the assigned school/testing venue before the examination day to be familiar with the school location.
On the examination day, examinees are advised to be as early as 6 a.m. for the verification and locating of room assignment. The CSC stated that gates of testing venues will be closed to examinees at exactly 7:30 a.m. and those who will arrive later than 7:30 a.m. will not be admitted.
The CSC emphasized that only black ball pens are allowed to be used in filling up the answer sheet (gel pen, sign pen, fountain pen, friction pen, or any other kinds of pen, including other colors of ball pen are not allowed).
Examinees must also bring a valid I.D. card, preferably the same I.D. card presented during the filing of application. If the I.D. card to be presented in the examination day is different from the I.D. card presented during filing of application, the examinee must present ANY of the following accepted I.D. cards, which must be valid (not expired):
- Driver’s License
- Passport
- PRC License
- SSS I.D.
- GSIS I.D. (UMID)
- Voter’s I.D.
- BIR I.D. (ATM type/TIN card type with picture)
- PhilHealth ID (must, at the least, contain the applicant’s name, clear picture, signature and PhilHealth number)
- Company/Office ID
- School ID (validated for the current school year/semester/trimester)
- Police Clearance/Police Clearance Certificate
- Postal I.D.
- Barangay I.D.
- NBI Clearance
If the I.D. card has no date of birth, examinees must bring an original copy of Birth Certificate printed on security paper issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority or the Local Civil Registry. The no I.D., no examination rule is strictly implemented. Examinees may also bring their application receipt with CSC Official Receipt, if available.
The CSC also reminded the examinees to wear proper attire on examination day. Sleeveless shirt/blouse, short pants, and slippers are not allowed.
In case of female examinees wearing a hijab, they will be asked to remove the head covering or at least enable the CSC staff to see their facial features, to verify their identity. If they are wearing a Muslim clothing which covers the whole body, they will be required to show their arms up to elbow level before they can enter the examination room. These may be done in a separate room upon request of the examinee.
The Professional level exam will test the (1) numerical ability (i.e. basic operations, word problems), (2) analytical ability (i.e. word association, identifying assumptions and conclusions, logic, data interpretation, and (3) verbal ability (i.e. grammar and correct usage, vocabulary, paragraph organization, reading comprehension) of examinees.
The Sub-professional level exam has the same scope except for analytical ability, which is replaced by clerical ability (i.e. filing and spelling).
Additionally, exam for both Professional and Sub-professional Levels will contain general questions about the Philippine Constitution, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees (R.A. 6713), Peace and Human Rights Issues and Concepts, and Environment Management and Protection.
