MRRD-NECC respects PRRD’s remarks on Rev Gov, CIDG to probe proponents

The Mayor Rodrigo Roa Duterte-National Executive Coordinating Committee (MRRD-NECC) respects the decision of President Rodrigo R. Duterte to distance himself from the move to push for a revolutionary government.

The group has stated that it is not asking permission from any officials and law enforcement agencies. It believes that the majority of the Filipinos must be heard in the end regarding the matter.

“Tama naman ang sinabi ni Presidente na wala akong kinalaman diyan, dahil dapat wala siyang kinalaman diyan because this is a peoples’ action. In the same manner na dapat walang kinalaman ang pulis at ang Armed Forces of the Philippines (The President is right in saying that he has nothing to do with this since he really should not be involved because this is a peoples’ action. In the same manner that the police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) do not have anything to do with it),” National Deputy Speaker for Peoples’ Coalition for RevGov and Charter Change Bobby Brillante stated.

The MRRD-NECC also denied that the current administration is behind its campaign of a Rev Gov.

Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Menardo Guevarra made it clear that he is not in favor of a revolutionary government not because he is part of the cabinet. This is his viewpoint as a lawyer and a citizen.

“The constitution is well in place, all political institutions are functioning normally, the head of government continues to have the support of the vast majority of the people.”

“If the objective of the proponents is to effect constitutional changes, the same may be accomplished without resorting to extra-constitutional ways. Impatience is not a ground to overthrow a constitutional government and replace it with one whose undefined powers are not derived from the sovereign will of the people,” Sec. Guevarra continued.

The Justice Chief assured that any complaints filed against those who wish to ruin the current political institution will be investigated by the DOJ.

The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) has already been directed to conduct a probe on individuals behind the Rev Gov move and to determine if there is any basis to file criminal charges leading to a possible arrest. – Report from Kenneth Paciente
