Muntinlupa passes ordinance against illegal COVID-19 booster jab

The Muntinlupa local government unit (LGU) passed an ordinance against individuals who will illegally get a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot.

Under the ordinance number 2021-262, the LGU will impose a fine of ₱5,000 on the violator and will face six to nine months of jail time, particularly those who intended to lie to be able to receive the booster shot.

The Department of Health (DOH) initially announced that it does not recommend having booster shots due to the limited supply of COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairperson Benhur Abalos warned individuals who plan to get a COVID-19 vaccine booster shot in a different local government unit (LGU) that they may be jailed.
