MWSS orders extension of grace period for water bills payment

The Metropolitan Water Works and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS) has ordered Maynilad and Manila Water to extend the grace period for customers to settle their water bills charged from the start of the Enhanced Community Quarantine.

From the old due date of July 31 for non-life line users and August 31 for life line users, the MWSS has merged the two dates to September 30.

According to MWSS Regulatory Chief Patrick Ty, they know the needs of the customers during the pandemic. The extension will also give them more time to report the irregularities in the billings issued by the water distributors and for the concessionaires to resolve the issues.

“It’s okay. You don’t need to rush because Maynilad and Manila Water cannot disconnect until end of September,” Ty assured consumers.
