Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) on Tuesday, March 21, assured the traveling public that the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is prepared for the influx of passengers during Holy Week.

At the Laging Handa public briefing, MIAA Assistant General Manager Bryan Co said as of Tuesday, NAIA is processing around 120,000 passengers per day.

Co said he is expecting that by Holy Week, it will reach 140,000 passengers daily.

“Itong pong Semana Santa, inaasahan natin talagang napakaraming pasahero ang gagamit ng ating paliparan dito sa NAIA. Dahil ito ang after two in a half years na nagkaroon tayo ng COVID [at] nagsara ang ating mga borders” Co said.

The agency is expecting 41 to 43 million passengers this year as more countries, including China, opened their borders.

The MIAA official also advised travelers to be at the airport hours before their flights, to have complete documents, and to consider the traffic conditions going to the airports.

He also encouraged the public to pay the travel tax online and recommended arriving passengers to fill-up the e-travel form online. – gb
