The local government of Navotas City submitted a resolution to the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) requesting for its non-inclusion in the modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) which is set to be implemented from May 16 to 31.
The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) said many barangays in the city are still within critical zones. The tally of the LGU shows there are 83 confirmed COVID-19 cases in Navotas, 19 recoveries, and 20 fatalities. There are also 238 suspected cases, and 203 probable cases.
Mass testing has been started where around 1,400 have undergone PCR-based testing.
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) will process their samples.
The 110-bed community isolation facility has also been in use.
Meanwhile, all those who enter fish ports are strictly monitored by the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority. Vonne Villanueva of the CDRRMO said those who enter fish ports undergo screening to make sure they have no symptoms of the virus.
In terms of funds, the LGU said they can still manage their needs especially in fighting COVID-19. It added there are still funds that can be realigned when needed, and assured they are prepared for other calamities.
Navotas City is expecting today the release of the IATF answer on their request to remain under ECQ.
