Navotas pulls away late to repulse Cebu in MPBL Datu Cup

MANILA — Navotas got its bearing going in the second half to take down Cebu City, 83-73, in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) Datu Cup at the San Andres Sports Complex in Manila on Saturday night.

The Clutch, the designated home side with the Navotas Sports Complex still unavailable as of the moment, limited the Sharks to just 11 points in the third quarter before opening an 18-point cushion late in the fourth quarter.

Marlon Gomez made 20 points, six rebounds, and one block in his best game so far for Navotas, which won back-to-back games and moved up to 7-9.

Jai Reyes added 13 points, 10 assists, and one steal, while Gino Jumao-As chipped in 12 markers, all on free throws, seven rebounds, two steals, and three blocks.

Will McAloney put up 15 points, six boards, one dime, two blocks, and one steal for Cebu City, which fell to 6-11.
