Navy to honor ‘Kakadu’ participants Sept. 24

MANILA — The Philippine Navy (PN) on Monday will render an arrival and welcoming ceremony for the frigate BRP Ramon Alcaraz (FF-16) and the 200-naval contingent for their successful participation in the recently-concluded “Kakadu” exercises in Darwin, Australia.

Commander Jonathan Zata, Navy spokesperson, said the ceremonies will be held at Pier 13, Manila South Harbor at around 8 a.m..

Gracing the event as guest of honor is Senator Loren B. Legarda who will also join the families and friends in welcoming the arriving sailors.

“Kakadu” is considered as Australia’s largest maritime exercise which aims to promote greater levels of military cooperation and understanding among regional countries.

Some 27 nations participated in this year’s exercise which ran from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15. (PriamNepomuceno/PNA)
