NCRPO chief: Cleanliness in all aspects a must for cops

MANILA — The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) on Wednesday said cleanliness in all aspects is a must for police officers, particularly the surroundings of precincts.

NCRPO chief, Maj. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, said all police community precincts (PCPs) in Metro Manila should be clean, stressing that it is part of the PNP’s internal cleansing program.

“During inspection, all 187 PCPs should be clean. I already started inspections last month. Even in small things, we should be exaggerated in terms of cleanliness. A small error should be immediately corrected. We should not let it become bigger as it others may imitate it,” Eleazar told the Philippine News Agency.

“In general, I am satisfied but we can do more improvement. The people’s trust will be restored if they see clean surroundings of police stations,” he added.

He also urged people within the vicinity of the PCPs to provide garbage bags in their places to lessen the scattering of trashes.

“Exaggerated cleanliness is needed not only in our surroundings but also among our ranks. Wiping out crime and illegal drugs. We will continue to help the local government units of Metro Manila to implement their ordinances because we all have the same goal which is to make the streets of Metro Manila safe,” he stressed.

Eleazar also appealed to the public to cooperate with the police and be careful of muggers, snatchers and hold-uppers.

He noted that the best anti-criminality measure is the vigilance of the public, particularly in implementing self-protection measures against criminal elements.
