NCRPO Probes Cops Caught with Contraband in Bilibid

Sixteen police officers, who were caught trafficking contraband in and out of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP), reported on Monday before the Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division (RIDMD) of NCRPO.

They were ordered to submit their respective counter affidavit until Wednesday of this week to shed light on the issue at hand.

The Acting Regional Director of National Capital Region Police Office, PBGEN DEBOLD M SINAS said that NCRPO will keep an eye on the policemen assigned at the state penitentiary following this unfortunate report.

PBGEN SINAS refused to name the police officers, who were reassigned at the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit, while an investigation is ongoing.

Said policemen from district and Regional Mobile Force Company of NCRPO forms part of the 551 cops fielded by the NCRPO to secure the premises of NBP’s Maximum Security Compound as guard posts.

Accordingly, subject NCRPO uniformed personnel were caught through inspection and frisking where contraband was found on their possession which includes liquor, electronic gadgets and tobacco.

Seized contrabands were placed under Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Custodian for proper disposition.

“We will never tolerate this illegal activity; Discipline must prevail,” PBGEN SINAS stressed.

“This is saddening but we will not concede. This is just one of our continuing challenges. We will not relent on our reforms to cleanse our organization,” he said.

“Let us also observe their rights to be investigated. Huwag natin agad silang ikondena. Bigyan natin sila ng chance na magpaliwanag,” PBGEN SINAS added.

The RDIMD is expected to issue final evaluation of the case on Friday, October 25, 2019.

Meanwhile, this incident has brought the NCRPO Acting Regional Director, PBGEN DEBOLD M SINAS to plan out replacing the NCRPO personnel fielded at the NBP every other month to avoid being corrupted and spurn possible bribes from inmates inside the country’s main insular penitentiary.
