NCRPO targets zero firecracker injuries on New Year

MANILA — With New Year’s Eve revelries just a few days away, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) announced that it is now coordinating with local government units and national government agencies to address concerns on fireworks use.

In a statement on Monday, Dec. 25, NCRPO Director Oscar Albayalde called on the public to celebrate New Year’s Day peacefully, as he instructed police personnel to coordinate with partner-government units regarding designated area for fireworks.

Albayalde also vowed to intensify security to ensure a peaceful celebration as 2018 ushers in.

“We will continue to intensify police visibility especially this coming New Year celebration. We will even double our effort to maintain peace and order as we also aim for zero-indiscriminate firing, this is a no-no for our personnel, anyone who violates will be dealt with accordingly,” said Albayalde.

“Let us make sure no child will lose a finger. This season is supposed to be for them to enjoy”, he added.

Albayalde also encouraged the public to immediately call for the police whenever police assistance is needed and reiterated the use of the government emergency hotline 911. (Priam Nepomuceno/PNA)
