NCRPO to implement stringent security in cemeteries

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) will still implement stringent security in cemeteries despite being closed during All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day as precaution against the spread of the Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

According to the NCRPO, over 77,000 police will be deployed to secure more than 100 cemeteries and columbaria in Metro Manila. This is meant to ensure security and compliance with the quarantine protocols.

According to NCRPO Regional Director Police Major General Debold Sinas, an increase in the number of visitors in cemeteries is expected before the imposed closure on October 29 to November 4. Only 30% of the cemeteries’ capacity are allowed. The police reminded the public to follow the health protocols and not to bring contrabands such as sharp objects and liquor. Sleeping overnight is also not allowed.

In relation with this, the Joint Task Force COVID Shield has reported that around 12,000 police have already been deployed to the cemeteries. Force multipliers were also added to help the national police. – Report from Bea Bernardo
