Nearly 10M COVID-19 vax doses arriving this month

The Philippines is expecting the delivery of almost 10 million COVID-19 vaccines doses this month in line with the intensified national inoculation program.

The following are the expected deliveries for June 2021:

  •     4.5 million Sinovac Biotech’s CoronaVac doses, the initial 1 million doses on June 6
  •     2.2 million Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine doses between June 7 and 11
  •     250,000 Moderna vaccine doses on June 21
  •     2 million Oxford AstraZeneca vaccine doses
  •     1 million Gamaleya Institute’s Sputnik V vaccine doses

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said in the June 1 Palace briefing that they are also looking forward to allied countries’ vaccine allocation to the Philippines.

The National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 said authorities have already agreed on the guidelines covering the Priority Group A4 vaccination. Galvez and testing czar Vince Dizon said the guidelines may be issued in the coming days.

“Sa guidelines may napagkasunduan na po tayo at saka continuous naman po iyong meeting natin with the IATF at saka sa NITAG,” Galvez said.

“Baka either first week or second week ng June. Pag-uusapan pa namin, para at least ang ano namin is nandoon na po, ipi-prepare na po iyong ating stock na mayroon po tayo na maibibigay sa A4 at saka sa A5,” he added.

At least 5.2 million doses have been administered in the country, with 1.1 million doses administered in the past week alone.

Galvez said they are expecting 15 million to 20 million doses in August, following the expected stability of supply in July.

Meanwhile, Dizon said 85% of the AstraZeneca doses from the COVAX Facility have been administered ahead of their expiration by month’s end. – Report from Mela Lesmoras/AG-rir
