Nearly 40 transmission lines unavailable due to Uwan onslaught

Amid restoration of power to nine transmission lines that were affected by strong winds caused by Typhoon Uwan (international name: Fung-Wong), the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) reported a total of nearly 40 transmission lines that still remain unavailable.

In its 9:00 a.m. report, the affected lines in Luzon are as follows:

Region I (Ilocos)

  • San Manuel-Calasiao 69kV Line (PANELCO III, CENPELCO, DECORP)
  • San Esteban-Candon 69kV Line (ISECO)
  • Bauang-San Fernando 69kV Line (LUECO)
  • Labrador-San Carlos 69kV Line (CENPELCO)
  • Bacnotan-Bulala 69kV Line (LUELCO)
  • Bauang-San Fabian 69kV Line (LUELCO)
  • Bauang-Naguilian 69kV Line (LUELCO)
  • Labrador-Bolinao 69kV Line (CENPELCO, PANELCO I)
  • Nagsaag-Umingan 69kV line (PANELCO III)

Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR)

  • La Trinidad-Sagada 69kV Line (MOPRECO, BENECO)
  • Itogon-Ampucao 23kV Line (BENECO)
  • San Esteban-Bangued 69kV Line (ABRECO)

Region II (Cagayan Valley)

  • Santiago-Cauayan 69kV line (ISELCO I)
  • Lal-lo-Santa Ana 69kV Line (CAGELCO II)
  • Santiago-Alicia 69kV Line (ISELCO, IFELCO)
  • Bayombong-Lagawe 69kV Line (NUVELCO, IFELCO)

Region III (Central Luzon)

  • Naga-Iriga 69kV Line (CASURECO III)

  • Sorsogon-Bulan 69kV Line (SORECO I, SORECO II)
  • Daraga-Sorsogon 69kV Line (SORECO I, SORECO II)
  • Labo-Paracale 69kV Line (CANORECO)

Two transmission lines in Visayas—Paranas-Quinapondan 69kV Line (ESAMELCO) and Palanas Cara-Catarman-Allen-Lao-ang 69kV Line (NORSAMELCO)—are also rendered unavailable by the storm.

There are also two (2) 138kV, eight (8) 230kV, two (2) 350kV, and one (1) 500kV lines unavailable. 

The NGCP said in a statement, “NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting patrols. Simultaneous restoration activities are also being conducted in areas already accessible.”

Earlier, power has been restored in the following transmission lines: Batangas-Bauan 69kV Line, Batangas-Taysan 69kV Line, Bantay-Vigan 69kV Line, Batangas-Mabini-Cuenca 69kV Line, Hermosa-Floridablanca 69kV Line, Santiago-Batal 69kV Line, Concepcion-Camiling 69kV Line, La Trinidad-Sablan 69kV Line, and La Trinidad-Lamut 69kV Line.
