NEDA monitors, validates road projects in Calabarzon

IMUS CITY, Cavite – The National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) IV-A (Calabarzon) Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC) has conducted field validations on ongoing bypass roads in the region to facilitate proper implementation of the ongoing traffic mitigation projects.

NEDA Calabarzon Regional Director and RPMC Chairperson Luis G. Banua on Wednesday said that their team focused its field validation on on-going bypass road projects in Laguna and Quezon, where some roads serve as components of the Luzon Pacific Highway (LPH).

NEDA’s Senior Economic Development Specialist Rey Michael Kevin Abuso added that the RPMC – the project monitoring arm of the Calabarzon Regional Development Council (RDC), has conducted their inspections from April 4 to 5 to also facilitate and check the status of the road constructions.

“Tinitingnan ang status at kung me kailangan silang tulong from RDC, RPMC (we’re looking at the project’s status and if they need any support, intervention from RDC, RPMC),” Abuso said.

The team visited the on-going bypass road components of LPH in Quezon Province’s Lopez and Gumaca towns, respectively where the road connects the town proper to two points in the Maharlika Highway.

The field validation team also covered the Atimonan-Mauban road, one of the major components of the LPH that will connect Atimonan and Mauban, as well as the Lucena City underpass project whose Phase 1 has already reached 85 percent completion during inspection, and another in Sariaya, all in Quezon province.

The team also passed by the Alaminos-San Pablo City bypass project in Laguna, which will provide an alternative route from Alaminos to San Pablo and help ease the traffic congestion in the city.

The said by-pass roads are in line with the banner project of the RDC to ease traffic in the region.

The team, likewise checked on the Tangkawayan Port (Quezon) to assess the improvements needed to maximize the use of the port.(Gladys Pino/PNA)
