NegOcc cops get assault rifles, investigator kits

BACOLOD CITY — The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Police (NOCPPO) and the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) have received assault rifles, investigator kits and other equipment from the higher headquarters.

The distribution of the anti-crime gear through the Police Regional Office-6 (Western Visayas) is in line with the modernization program of the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Col. Romeo Baleros, acting police provincial director, said on Wednesday the new equipment will boost the anti-crime campaign of the NOCPPO.

“It will further improve the unit’s delivery of public safety services to Negrosanons,” he added.

The provincial police was issued 50 Galil caliber 5.56 assault rifles and 18,000 rounds of ammunition along with 32 investigator’s kits, 20 Global Positioning System (GPS) units, and three thermal imagers.

On Tuesday, Senior Master Sgt. Brayan Tamon of the 1st Negros Occidental Provincial Mobile Force Company (NOCPMFC), gave an orientation on the use of basic assault rifles to personnel of the 1st and 2nd NOCPMFC based in the northern and southern part of the province, respectively.

Meanwhile, the BCPO also received 14 Galil caliber 5.56 assault rifles along with 11 investigator’s kits, 33 directional signages, and a GPS unit.

The new police equipment was turned over by Lt. Col. Leonardo Borromeo, deputy city director for administration and operation, to Maj. Ramel Sarona, commander of Bacolod City Mobile Force Company; and Lt. Jonito Pastrana, officer-in-charge of Investigation and Detection Management Section, on Monday.
