NegOcc electric coops ensure uninterrupted power supply for polls

BACOLOD CITY — The three electric cooperatives in Negros Occidental have assured the public of uninterrupted power supply during Monday’s barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.

In Bacolod, Sulpicio Lagarde Jr., general manager of Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco), said they have conducted preventive maintenance weeks before the elections to avoid power disturbances on election day.

“There is stable power supply. We are all posted,” he added.

Lagarde said they have formed an election task force to monitor the power situation, and field personnel and linemen were also directed to augment the emergency crew.

Jonas Discaya, general manager of Negros Occidental Electric Cooperative (Noceco), also assured the public of stable power supply in its area of jurisdiction in southern Negros.

In the north, Paulino Almedelia, corporate planning head of Northern Negros Electric Cooperative (Noneco), said there are no scheduled power interruptions on election day.

He said Noneco has a stand-by crew which will immediately respond to unplanned power outages. (Erwin Nicavera/PNA)
