NegOcc police sets security, deployment plans for ‘Undas’

BACOLOD CITY — The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) has put in place its security and deployment plans for the observance of All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, or “Undas”, on November 1-2.

Senior Supt. Rodolfo Castil Jr., provincial police director, said in a statement on Thursday that NOCPPO will implement a full alert status to further intensify anti-crime efforts on both days.

Police personnel should always remain alert and vigilant to preempt and prevent crimes, he added.

Castil said their security and deployment plans have already been disseminated to various police stations and units in the province’s 12 cities, excluding Bacolod, and 19 municipalities. NOCPPO has a total of 1,846 policemen.

He, however, noted the deployment plan is still in its initial stage as most of his men are still busy with highlights of the MassKara Festival on Sunday.

Policemen will be “strategically concentrated” in cemeteries and memorial parks, transportation hubs such as airports and seaports, shopping malls, public markets, and other places of convergence.

“This is where the influx of people is expected. We mainly target the prevention of crime and reduce the opportunities for criminals,” Castil said.

He added the provincial police will also initiate operational and administrative activities to increase public awareness of crime prevention and safety measures. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
