BACOLOD CITY — The province of Negros Occidental has been recognized by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for its contribution to the agency’s Performance Challenge Fund (PCF) Program.

Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Ma. Lina Sanogal received the award for “Katangi-tanging Pagpupugay sa Lokal na Pamahalaan sa Pagsasakatuparan ng Performance Challenge Fund” in rites during the PCF Summit held at Sulo Riviera Hotel in Quezon City on Thursday.

“This award is attributed to the efficient and effective people of the provincial government for maintaining excellence in local governance,” she said.

Sanogal also credited the inspiration, direction, and excellent leadership provided by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, and the Provincial Board members.

The DILG has recognized the provincial government’s exemplary performance and appreciated its long-term contribution to the development of the PCF Program promoting transparency, resiliency, socially-protectiveness and competitiveness for the successful implementation and completion of PCF Projects since 2010.

It also acknowledged and appreciated the province’s invaluable contribution and effort towards effective and efficient delivery of basic service, responsive to the present and future needs of the community.

The Performance Challenge Fund for Local Government Units (PC Fund) is an incentive fund to LGUs in the form of counterpart funding to high-impact capital investment projects in the Annual Investment Program (AIP) and funded out of the 20 percent Local Development Fund consistent with national goals and priorities.

The initiative seeks to rationalize national government intergovernmental transfers to LGUs and encourage alignment of local development initiatives with national government development agenda and priorities.
