NegOcc releases P1.175-M in barangay insurance claims

BACOLOD CITY – The Negros Occidental provincial government has released a total of PHP1.175 million in insurance claims to beneficiaries of the Barangay Insurance Program for Barangay Tanods, Officials, and Employees.

The turn-over rites held at the Provincial Capitol on Tuesday was led by Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr., who distributed the checks to the family-beneficiaries of the insured individuals from various cities and municipalities, in the presence of their respective barangays officials.

For accidental death of a barangay tanod or official, the beneficiaries will receive PHP100,000 while for natural death, PHP50,000.

The Barangay Insurance Program is being implemented under the Special Programs and Concerns Division of the Provincial Administrator’s Office.

This October, the insured tanods and barangays whose beneficiaries received claims were from the cities of Sagay, Victorias, Talisay, Bago, Kabankalan, and towns of E.B. Magalona, Murcia, Valladolid, Pulupandan, Hinigaran, Binalbagan, Moises Padilla, Isabela, Candoni, Cauayan, and Hinoba-an.

A total of 23 claimants received the insurance money.
