BACOLOD CITY — Twenty-seven villages in Negros Occidental received PHP6.652 million in funds from the provincial government for the implementation of their respective projects this year.
Data from the capitol showed that Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. distributed checks to officials and representatives of recipient-barangays in the Fifth District as of Friday, particularly in the municipalities of La Castellana, Moises Padilla, Hinigaran and Binalbagan and Himamaylan City.
Other recipients are the villages in Silay City, Bago City and municipalities of E.B. Magalona, Candoni and Cauayan.
In La Castellana, the villages given include Manghanoy with PHP300,000 for the construction of building for senior citizens and persons with disabilities; Mansalanao, PHP300,000 for the reinstallation of water pipe lines of Induruyan water source; Biaknabato, PHP300,000 for the rehabilitation of water system; and Camandag and Masulog, PHP300,000 each for the construction of potable water systems.
In Binalbagan, Barangay Biao received PHP200,000 for road re-graveling project while in Himamaylan City, Barangay 1 Poblacion got PHP200,000 for the clearing and declogging of canal.
Four barangays in Moises Padilla received funds, including Barangay 6 with PHP600,000 for the rehabilitation and improvement of day care center and construction of covered court; Barangay Quintin Remo, PHP150,000 for livelihood cattle dispersal project; Barangays 2 and 5 Poblacion, PHP100,000 each for social services projects.
In Hinigaran, Barangay Camalobalo received PHP200,000 for the improvement of basketball court, installation of drainage and perimeter fence; Barangay Himaya, PHP200,000 for the construction of day care center; and Barangays Candumarao and Calapi, PHP150,000 each for the installation of street lights.
In Candoni, Barangays East and Haba received PHP200,000 and PHP250,000, respectively for the purchase of multi-purpose vehicles.
In Cauayan, Barangays Caliling and Linaon received PHP789,505 and PHP500,000 respectively for their respective potable water system-spring development projects while Barangays Poblacion, Sura and Tomina each received PHP254,000 for the livelihood project through cacao production.
Barangay Manuling got PHP100,000 for the establishment of artificial reef.
In E.B. Magalona, Barangay Batea received PHP100,000 for the repair of streetlights while in Silay City, Barangay Balaring was given PHP200,000 for road regravelling project.
Two villages in Bago City, Abuanan and Sampinit, received PHP100,000 each for the repair and maintenance of local government unit-owned water system and tree growing project, respectively. (Nanette Guadalquiver/PNA)
