NegOcc town’s attractions showcased at Berlin travel fair

BACOLOD CITY — The municipality of La Castellana in Negros Occidental is showcasing its tourism attractions in the ongoing Internationale Tourismus Borse (ITB) Berlin in Germany.

This year’s edition of ITB Berlin, the world’s largest tourism trade fair, runs from March 7 to 11.

Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan, who is representing the southern Negros town in the travel trade show, said La Castellana is highlighting its annual Bailes de Luces Festival, together with the town’s natural tourist spots.

La Castellana is the Philippines’ lone local government unit (LGU) exhibitor.

Its main tourist spots include the Caduhada Spring Resort and Baji-Baji Waterfalls. It has also viewing points for the majestic Mount Kanlaon.

La Castellana’s participation, together with 18 other organizations from the country, was facilitated by the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines in collaboration with the Philippine Department of Tourism-Frankfurt.

TPB Philippines said ITB-Berlin is the world’s leading travel show where companies and organizations’ top decision-makers, experts, buyers, and young professionals in the travel industry meet to network, negotiate, and do business.

The travel show draws about 10,000 exhibitors, tour operators, booking systems developers, airlines, hotels, and other tourism business services from more than 180 countries and regions.

TPB Philippines said it aims to showcase cross promotion of the country’s tourism destinations, trade products and services, and the latest industry development that would position the Philippines as an attractive and competitive destination for global market.

The agency added that for 2018, it is strengthening promotional efforts to achieve an increase in tourist arrivals from Europe and boost the country’s brand campaign. (Erwin Nicavera/PNA)
