NegOr Capitol mulls purchase of new CT Scan machine

DUMAGUETE CITY — The Office of the Governor of Negros Oriental is allocating a budget for the purchase of one Computed Tomography (CT) Scan machine to be approved by the provincial board in next year’s budget.

Governor Roel Degamo said this is in line with the provincial government’s dream of establishing a diagnostic center complete with sophisticated medical equipment, including CT Scan and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines, among others.

The governor’s plan includes the training of local doctors who are products of the provincial government’s scholarship program to become specialists in internal medicine, neurosurgery, family medicine, and pediatrics.

It is Degamo’s vision to establish the diagnostic center within five years.

He also said the people of the province could not wait any longer for the Department of Health (DOH) to replace the defective CT Scan machine given to the province two years ago.

The old and defective diagnostic equipment arrived as “brand new” from the DOH during the time of former health secretary Janette Garin, but it could not be used to the dismay of the people of Negros Oriental, Degamo said.

“Naupos na ang atong pasensiya, dapat napuslan ang equipment nga labawng gikinahanglan sa mga kabus (Our patience has run out. That equipment should have benefited the people, especially the poor),” he said.

“Walay kahumanon ang saad sa DOH nga modala og technician, hapit duha na ka tuig ang nakalabay (The DOH promise to send a technician is never-ending and two years have already passed),” the governor added. (Juancho Gallarde/PNA)
