By Priam Nepomuceno – PNA News

MANILA — Outgoing Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief-of-staff Gen. Carlito Galvez’s replacement has already been selected, Department of National Defense (DND) Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Wednesday.

But he declined to name the officer, preferring to let President Rodrigo Duterte to make the announcement himself.

“Meron na pero hindi ko sasabihin kasi ayaw ko namang pangunahan si Presidente. Antayin na lang natin ang official announcement. Suffice to say he will come from the Philippine Army. (A new AFP chief has been selected but I refuse to pre-empt the President. Let us just wait for the official annoucement. Suffice to say he will from the Philippine Army),” Lorenzana said in a message to reporters.

Galvez, a member of Philippine Military Academy Class of 1985, is scheduled to retire from active military service this coming Dec. 12 after reaching the mandatory retirement age of 56.
