New quarantine classifications effective August 16 to 31

New community quarantine classifications will be imposed in different areas of the country starting tomorrow, August 16 to 31.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque announced on Saturday that General Community Quarantine shall cover Cebu City, Lapu-Lapu City, Nueva Ecija, Mandaue City, Batangas, Quezon,  Iloilo City as well as Talisay City and the municipalities of Minglanilla and Consolacion in Cebu.

The rest of the country will be under Modified General Community Quarantine.

While quarantine measures have been eased for most parts of the Philippines , Sec. Roque underscored the importance of protocols to prevent the transmission of the coronavirus disease 2019 (CoVID-19)

“Ang National Task Force po at Department of the Interior and Local Government ay inatasan na siguraduhin na ‘yung mga areas na kinakailangan ng local action ay magpapatupad po ng istriktong localized or granular lockdowns, sang-ayon po sa zoning containment strategy, minimum health standards, pagsusuot po ng mask, paghuhugas ng kamay, pagso-social distancing, at pagsusuot po ng face shields sa trabaho at mga pampublikong sasakyan (The National Task Force and Department of the Interior and Local Government have been ordered to ensure that strict localized or granular lockdowns should be imposed in areas needing local action in accordance with the zoning containment strategy, minimum health standards, wearing of masks, proper washing of hands, social distancing, and wearing of face shields in the workplace and public tranportation).

A new quarantine classification will be announced by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday, August 17, for Metro Manila,   Laguna, Bulacan, Rizal and Cavite which have been declared to be under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) from August 4 to 18. – Report by Mela Lesmoras
