New Zealand reopens borders to Filipinos

By Gabriela Baron

New Zealand has reopened its borders to international travelers, for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic closed them in March 2020.

New Zealand Ambassador to the Philippines Peter Kell made the announcement Monday, Aug. 1, on Twitter.

“Please that today, New Zealand has officially reopened its borders at ngayon ay tumatanggap na ng visa applications mula sa Pilipinas at iba pang mga bansa,” Kell said.

“Haere Mai! We look forward to welcoming you & excited kaming muling ibahagi ang ganda ng NZ!”

The country is now also allowing cruise ships and foreign recreational yachts docks at its ports.

Visitors arriving in New Zealand still need to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and must take two COVID-19 tests after arriving. However, there are no quarantine requirements. –ag
