SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — The National Food Authority (NFA) in Antique has started delivering the 3,252 bags of rice for the second tranche of the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) Supplementary Feeding Program (SFP) this week.

NFA Information Officer Lorlyn Bayog, in an interview Friday, said the rice delivery is for the remaining 60 days of the total 120 days feeding program for this school year.

“NFA has started to deliver rice to the child development centers for their SFP,” Bayog said. There are 675 child development centers throughout the province.

In an earlier interview, Rizza Paclibar, the DSWD Program Development Officer, said they are implementing the 120-day feeding program in the 18 towns of the province for 2-4 year old children.

She added that the NFA’s first tranche delivery to the child development centers was during the months of June and July, when 3,256 bags of rice were delivered for the first 60 days of the feeding program.

The DSWD, which implements the SFP, has allocated PHP10.4 million for the NFA rice, which is cooked at the center by parents of pupils and served during class hours.

Bayog said the rice they are delivering now is part of the 22,000 bags of Thai rice for NFA Antique last September.

Melanie Raymaro, a mother of a day-care pupil, said in an interview that she is glad about the feeding program at the child development center in Sibalom town because her daughter learns to eat rice and vegetables as viand.

She said that mothers who have picky children, who do not like to eat vegetables, should enroll their children at the center by the next school year.
