The National Historic Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) will lead the ceremonial signing of the Implementing Rules of Regulation (IRR) of the Vintage Vehicle Law on Sunday, March 12 at the Presidential Car Museum, Quezon Memorial Circle.

NHCP Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Franco Calairo, Senior Deputy Minority Leader Paul Ruiz Daza, Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Land Transportation Office Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade will grace the event, as well as members and representatives from the Automobile Association of the Philippines, Manila Sports Car Club, Makati Rotary Club, Porsche Car Club, and Vintage Car Club.

NHCP announced that the museum will be closed until 1:00 p.m., but regular guests may visit after the program.

In order to promote the local vintage vehicle restoration industry, the Vintage Vehicle Act IRR will set guidelines to vintage vehicles owners and the local motoring community.

The law also provides that NHCP may certify the importation of vintage vehicles without restriction, taking into consideration that it will help preserve the nation’s cultural and historical legacy.

The Vintage Vehicle Act or Republic Act 11698 is a restoration of vehicles that were owned or frequently used by any president of the Philippines during their term, as well as cars that were used or owned by a person that has historical significance and are regarded as unique, including those that were in use before cars became widely used in the nation. – cf
