‘Ninong’ Duterte attends wedding of security aide

MANILA – President Rodrigo Duterte attended the wedding of his police aide, police Senior Insp. Sofia Loren Deliu and police Insp. Abdul-Bassar Abdurajak on Saturday in Zamboanga City.

Duterte, one of the two principal sponsors, said he was honored to witness the union of Deliu and Abdurajak, advising them to take time to adopt and know more about each other’s strength as well as weaknesses.

“Marriage is not only exchanging the sacred vows, it is also about committing a life filled with eternal love and happiness despite all hardships and difficulties,” Duterte told the new couple during a ceremony held at the Madrid Ballroom of Palace del Sur in Gov. Camins Road in Zamboanga City.

“Respect and understand your differences, shortcomings and show the same kind of passion and determination at work as peace officers in keeping your relationship stronger. Continue to grow as a couple and nurture one another as you bring out the best in each other,” he added.

Duterte also reiterated his advice to Deliu that she can leave the Presidential Security Group (PSG) and accept a new assignment where she can stay with her husband.

“As I told you before, you can choose your nearest assignment with your bride groom so that you can be closer together,” the President said.

“We can always make arrangement that you stay together so that you can start your marriage with the companionship that is constant and frequent at para mabuntis kaagad,” he added.

The President ended his message with a wish: “May you marriage last for a thousand years.” (PNA)
