NKTI, magbubukas ng pasilidad para sa dialysis patients na may COVID-19

Magkakaroon na ng sariling pasilidad ang National Kidney and Transplant Institute (NKTI) para sa hemodialysis ng mga pasyente nitong positibo sa COVID-19.

Ito ay itinayo ng Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) at bubuksan sa Miyerkules, Mayo 5. Binuo ito sa loob ng dalawang buwan at na may kasama na itong dormitoryo para sa mga medical frontliners.

Itataas ng bagong pasilidad sa 30% ang kapasidad ng NKTI para sa hemodialysis, dahil mayroon itong 20 kwarto na kayang tumanggap ng 60 pasyente sa isang araw.

Ang NKTI ang pinakamalaking pampublikong ospital na tumatanggap ng mga pasyente ng dialysis sa Pilipinas. Ngunit dahil sa pandemic, nahati ang kanilang serbisyo sa mga pasyenteng mayroon at walang COVID-19.

“Sa ngayon, ‘yung mga may COVID, last session sila. That means mga madaling araw na ‘yon sa third o fourth session,” paliwanag ni NKTI Executive Director Rose Marie Rosette-Liquete.

“And then mayroon din kaming area na COVID lang ang nagda-dialysis, pero it’s only like 15,” dagdag niya.

Samantala, itinanggi naman ng NKTI na may mga pasyente silang natutulog sa labas ng ospital.

“These patients were really not sa labas. It is a covered area and we put them in the tent, mga apat din sa driveway. So siyempre mas maaliwalas siguro na nasa labas ng tent,” saad ni Liquete. – Ulat ni Karen Villanda/AG-jlo
