MANILA — The NLEX Corporation has reduced its toll rate hikes by PHP 1 to mitigate the impact of recent adjustments approved by the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) which shall take effect on March 20.
The TRB has originally approved a PHP 10 adjustment which include the new add-on toll rate of PHP 6 applicable to the open system upon the completion of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 and PHP 4 for the open system as part of the initial tranche of approved periodic adjustments due in 2013 and 2015.
In its statement on Monday, the NLEX Corporation said Class 1 vehicles or ordinary cars shall be imposed a PHP 9 toll increase from PHP 45 to the new rate of PHP 54.
Class 2 or buses and trucks will be imposed a toll rate of 22 (instead of PHP 23) from PHP 114 to PHP 136 while Class 3 or large trucks and trailers will be charged with a toll rate of PHP 28 (instead of 29) from PHP 136 to PHP 164.
“The reduced toll increases are already reflected in the recently issued toll fare guide for those motorists traveling the entire NLEX. For customers’ convenience, the fare guide will also include the combined toll fee computation for both NLEX and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX),” according to NLEX Corporation.
The tollway operator further said that the SCTEX is not included in the toll increase.
The toll rate increases were approved by the TRB following the recent opening of the NLEX Harbor Link Segment 10 traversing the cities of Valenzuela, Malabon, and Caloocan.
