NLEX-SCTEX intensifies operations for the holidays

The NLEX Corporation activates the seasonal “Safe Trip Mo Sagot Ko” motorist assistance program for the expected surge in traffic volume during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

Now on its 11th year, the SMSK will continue to enhance all services along the NLEX-SCTEX for a more comfortable journey.

From December 18, 2020 to January 4, 2021, NLEX will beef up its operations to further provide convenient and safe travel to motorists. Traffic monitoring teams will closely monitor high volume toll plazas such as Balintawak, Mindanao, Karuhatan, Bocaue, San Fernando, Clark South, Tarlac and Tipo.

Close to 1,200 patrol crews, traffic marshals, security teams, and RFID Assist Squads will be deployed at strategic areas of the expressway to ensure safety and provide immediate assistance to motorists. They will continue to observe safety protocols so motorists will be safer and more protected.

Speed and lane management teams will likewise be on alert to enforce traffic discipline. Emergency medical services and incident response teams will also be augmented during the traffic surge.

“As of November 2020, NLEX-SCTEX traffic is at 288,000. This is lower by 25 to 30 percent compared last year. This holiday season, we expect 10 to 12 percent increase on the last working day before Christmas and on Dec 26 and 27,” said NLEX Corporation President and General Manager J. Luigi L. Bautista, highlighting that the company is intensifying its customer facing services to help shorten the travel time of motorists.

Construction and lane closures along the mainline road of NLEX-SCTEX have been suspended until January 5, 2021 unless safety repairs are necessary. Free 24-hour towing service to the nearest exit for Class 1 vehicles will also be available on December 26 and 27 and Jan 2 to 3, 2021.

Important traffic advisories will be relayed to motorists through variable message signs and via regular updates on social media (Facebook: NLEX Corporation | Twitter: @nlexexpressways).
For inquiries or other concerns, motorists may call the NLEX-SCTEX hotline at 1-35000.
