MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Monday reported that there were no Filipinos among the victims of a knife attack in Paris that killed one person and injured four others.
The DFA, quoting a report from the Philippine Embassy in Paris, said the victims were attacked by a knife-wielding man along Rue Saint Agustin and Rue Monsigny, a popular tourist destination in the French capital, on Saturday.
Ambassador Maria Theresa Lazaro said the attacker was shot and killed by police who responded within minutes of the incident.
The envoy reported that the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack but has not provided evidence to support its claim.
French authorities have not yet openly categorized the incident as a terror attack but a terror investigation has been launched, Lazaro said. (PNA)
