The Dasmariñas City government in the province of Cavite has implemented a no-helmet policy on Thursday, August 24, due to the series of shooting incidents by riding in tandem involving motorcycles.

This is under the Dasmariñas City Council Resolution No. 153-s-2017 which prohibits motorcycle riders from using helmets on all national roads in the city, except when driving along Aguinaldo Highway, Governor’s Drive and Paliparan-Salawag-Molino Road.

The local government unit only applied the no-helmet policy on roads where the allowable speed limit is only 40 kph. Also, checkpoints were established around various areas in the city.

A P500,000 reward has been offered by the local government for those who can lead any information that can assure for arrest of the riding in tandem. | (Tina Joyce Laceda – PTV)
