No holiday declarations yet for 31st ASEAN Summit: Palace

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella during a press briefing in Malacanan Palace on September 28, 2017.

MANILA — Malacañang on Thursday clarified that it has not issued any official holiday declarations yet for the 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and Related Meetings in November.

Presidential Spokesperson Ernesto Abella made the clarification during a Palace briefing in view of a supposed Malacañang memo that is circulating online saying that government has declared Nov. 13 to 15 as “special non-working holidays” in Metro Manila.

The Palace official said the supposed document “is not official.”

When asked if the government is inclined to declare a holiday for the ASEAN event, Abella said that nothing is official yet.

“Hindi pa official. But I’m sure the statement will be forthcoming,” Abella said.

The Philippines chairs the ASEAN this year and has hosted various activities and meetings throughout the country.

The 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings are scheduled to take place from November 10 to 14 in Clark, Pampanga. (PNA)
