SAN JOSE DE BUENAVISTA, Antique — No major glitch was encountered during the conduct of the final testing and sealing of vote counting machines (VCM) in Antique province on Friday.

Wil S. Arceño, Commission on Elections (Comelec) – Antique acting election supervisor, said in an interview that so far everything went well with the VCM final testing and sealing done by their personnel and teachers, who will serve as Board of Election Inspectors (BEIs), in the different polling precincts in the 18 towns.

“There were no major problems that happened, except only in Culasi town. There was one precinct that was found to have a defective SD card,” Arceño said.

He said that they needed to have the SD card replaced by their regional hub in Iloilo City.

The VCMs for Antique were received by the Comelec provincial office last Tuesday and were immediately distributed to the 521 polling precincts in the 18 municipalities.

The BEIs at the Delegate Angel Salazar Jr. Memorial School (DASMS) in San Jose de Buenavista spent almost the whole morning familiarizing themselves with the VCM.

Ginalyn Ramos, a DASMS teacher who will serve as poll clerk on election day, said they found the VCM to be user-friendly.

“It was not so hard for us to learn how to operate it,” Ramos said. “We are now ready for the election.”
Antique has a total 371,244 registered voters.
