There will be no extension for the registration of subscriber identity module (SIM) card which is set to end at 11:59 p.m. of July 25, according to National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Deputy Commissioner Jon Paulo Salvahan.
In the July 18 Laging Handa briefing, Salvahan said all unregistered SIM cards will be deactivated past the deadline, and that associated digital wallets will temporarily be inaccessible.
Salvahan said there will be no deadline for registering new SIM cards.
He also clarified that subscribers can register multiple SIM cards without any limit, as long as they provide accurate information and government-issued identification.
Based on the latest data of NTC, a total of 103,519,000 SIM cards have been registered. This is 61.6% of the total number of active SIM cards as of December 2022.
The original deadline was April 26 and was extended to July 25 to allow more subscribers to register. –ag
