No Pinoy among Maryland shooting casualties

MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Friday no Filipino was reported among the victims of the mass shooting incident in Maryland in the US on Thursday.

Philippine Ambassador to the United States Jose Manuel Romualdez expressed his sympathies to the bereaved families of the victims.

Three individuals were shot and killed by a woman who also wounded three others before fatally shooting herself at a Rite Aid distribution facility in Aberdeen, Harford County, about 30 miles northeast of Baltimore.

Local authorities identified the shooter as Snochia Moseley, a temporary worker at the drugstore chain’s facility. As of writing, law enforcers were still searching for a motive.

The Philippine Embassy already reached out to the Filipino community in the area.

The envoy said leaders of the Filipino community in Baltimore have also not heard of any Filipino being among the dead or wounded in the incident.
To date, there are nearly 7,800 members of the Filipino community in the First Congressional District of Maryland, which covers Harford County. (Joyce Ann L. Rocamora/PNA)
