No price increase of ‘noche buena’ products

ZAMBOANGA CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has assured the public there will be no increase in prices of most of “noche buena” products as the Yuletide Season approaches.

Lilian Salonga, DTI consumer protection and advocacy bureau director, on Tuesday said this was the assurance given to them by manufacturers when they met on September 27.

“They assured us that there will be adequate supply (of noche buena products),” Salonga said, adding that there would be no price increase until the end of the year.

“Tuloy ang pasko. We don’t have price increase on majority of the items that we serve in our noche buena table,” she said.

The noche buena products included ham, spaghetti pasta, spaghetti sauce, mayonnaise, fruit cocktail, salad macaroni, elbow macaroni, all purpose cream, tomato sauce, and cheese.

The DTI also assured that these products would be monitored to ensure they are sold within the suggested retail price. (R. G. Antonet Go/PNA)
