No reported Filipino casualty in Indonesia suicide bombings: DFA

MANILA — The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) on Tuesday said no Filipino fatality has been reported in the wake of the series of suicide bombings in Indonesia that claimed a number of lives.

The bombings took place in Indonesia’s second largest city, Surabaya.

In a statement, the DFA, through the Philippine embassy in Jakarta, said it is now in touch with members of the Filipino community in the city.

Meanwhile, the DFA advised the more than 250 Filipinos residing in Surabaya to remain vigilant and to limit their movement until the situation normalizes.

The department has not received any information from the embassy that would indicate any Filipino casualty in the bombings.

It reiterated that it will continue to monitor the situation in Surabaya.

Filipinos in need of immediate assistance may contact the embassy at +62.878.85373273.

Coordinated suicide bombings were recorded in Surabaya on May 13-14, targeting three Christian churches and a police station.
