COTABATO CITY – The local tourism office of Arakan, North Cotabato, bared Monday that a total of 25,319 local and foreign tourists have visited the town’s tourist attractions from January to March this year.

Michael Labao, Arakan municipal tourism operations officer, reported to Arakan Mayor Rene Rubino, that these tourists have visited and appreciated the beauty of nature in Arakan’s 18 tourist spots.

The visitors’ figure is based on records from the management of Matigol Falls, Epol falls, Vowvulon Natural Spring Resort, Golden Gate, Eagles Ridge Rest House, Alice Log House, and other local accommodations.

“The local tourism office is expecting an increase in the number of tourists during the summer vacation or after the May 13 midterm polls,” said Labao in his report.

He added that the local police office has reported no major incident that would affect visits of tourists to falls, springs and other destinations in the area.

Rubino, for his part, called on his constituents to help promote the town’s sight-seeing destinations by spreading the beauty of Arakan through social media and by word of mouth.

“For one, the locals should ask relatives and friends from afar to come over,” said the mayor in a phone interview.
