Northern Mindanao workers to get wage hike next month

MANILA – Minimum wage earners in Northern Mindanao will receive an increase in their daily wages ranging from PHP27 to PHP35 effective November, the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC) said.

The salary adjustments were based on Wage Order No. RX-20 issued by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board-X, covering all workers in the private sector getting minimum salary.

“The wage increases prescribed herein shall apply to all workers and employees in the private sector receiving minimum wage in the region, regardless of their position, designation or status, and irrespective of the method by which their wages are paid, including family drivers,” said the five-page order approved on Oct. 9 but was released by the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in its Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to the order, non-agricultural workers and agricultural workers from the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and the municipalities of Tagoloan, Villanueva and Jasaan will be receiving PHP365 and PHP353, respectively.

For the cities of Malaybalay, Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador, Ozamiz, and the municipalities of Opol, Maramag, Quezon, Manolo Fortich and Lugait, non-agriculture and agriculture workers are set to get PHP358 and PHP346, respectively.

Minimum wage earners in the non-agriculture sector will be getting PHP350 while workers in the agriculture sector will receive PHP338 from the cities of Oroquieta and Tangub, and the municipalities of Laguindingan, Mambajao and Balingasag.

All other areas, all retail and service establishments employing not more than 10 workers in non-agriculture and agriculture sectors will receive PHP343 and PHP331, respectively.

At the same time, the NWPC said that the Order does not cover persons in the personal service of another, domestic workers or kasambahay under Batas Kasambahay (RA 10361) and workers of Barangay Micro Business Enterprises registered under Go Negosyo Act (RA 10644). (Ferdinand Patinio/PNA)
