NTF against COVID-19 eyes Bohol as model of the ‘new normal’

The National Task Force against COVID-19 has considered making the province of Bohol as model of the “new normal” due to its successful response against COVID-19.

Bohol is currently COVID-free and is placed under general community quarantine.

National Action Plan Chief Implementer Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. and Deputy Chief Implementer Vince Dizon visited the province and intend to strengthen its health capacity for the gradual restoration of tourism in Bohol.

“It will be an absolute necessity now for all international airports to have their own laboratory and Bohol is a top priority because of the strength of the tourist industry in Bohol” Sec. Vince Dizon stated.

NTF against COVID-19 also gave a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) machine to the local government of Bohol.

Sec. Galvez assured that the national government will help in establishing testing centers in the seaport and provincial capitol.

With the help of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Department of Tourism (DOT), protocols will be created for the re-opening of business establishments in the province.

Based on the data of the DOT last 2018, 1.4 million local and foreign tourists visited Bohol. – Report from Bea Bernardo
