NTF: LGUs may extend Bayanihan, Bakunahan until Friday

By Lade Jean Kabagani / Philippine News Agency

The country’s national massive inoculation drive dubbed Bayanihan, Bakunahan will continue for two more days, the National Task Force (NTF) Against COVID-19 announced Thursday (Dec. 2).

In an advisory, the NTF said various local government units (LGUs) have requested the National Vaccine Operations Center (NVOC) to extend the three-day COVID-19 vaccination drive as a “large” number of individuals are still flocking to the vaccination sites to get the vaccine.

With this, the NTF allowed the LGUs to voluntarily extend their respective “Bayanihan, Bakunahan” drives until Friday (Dec. 3).

All the LGUs are requested to inform the Centers for Health Development if they wish to stretch their vaccination period that started on Nov. 29.

The Regional and Local Vaccination Operations Centers (RVOC), likewise, are directed to facilitate the augmentation of resources and provision of technical support.

They are also tasked to ensure sufficient vaccine allocation and distribution of ancillary supplies for the LGUs.

Meanwhile, the NVOC is yet to release the official tally of vaccine throughput during the three-day Bayanihan, Bakunahan vaccination event held Monday to Wednesday. The government aimed to administer nine million doses of coronavirus vaccines in 8,000 inoculation sites nationwide. (PNA) – jlo
